As the 15th Global Accessibility Awareness Day approaches, Apple has released a series of groundbreaking accessibility features previews. This new set of accessibility tools integrates Apple Intelligence (Apple's AI) technology, aiming to significantly enhance the daily user experience for people with disabilities on devices such as iPhone, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro through system-level AI empowerment.
Visual and Control Evolution
Thanks to the power of large models, Apple's classic VoiceOver feature has received a major upgrade in image resource management. Visually impaired users can now press the action button on their iPhone, and the AI will deeply understand the content within the camera viewfinder, describing the objects or people in front of the lens with detailed natural language.
In the field of spatial computing, Apple Vision Pro introduced an impressive eye-tracking feature. Through precise eye movement recognition, individuals with physical disabilities can now directly control compatible smart power wheelchairs using just their "gaze," greatly expanding their mobility freedom.
Seamless Integration of Speech and Subtitles
For the hearing-impaired and those with speech disorders, this update also brings several practical tools. The new sound control feature supports more advanced natural language input, allowing users to simply describe the buttons on the screen with everyday speech rather than memorizing specific numbers or tag instructions, enabling the AI to accurately perform the desired actions.
Additionally, based on device-side AI technology, the Apple ecosystem will support real-time generation of Chinese subtitles for all video content that does not provide subtitles. This cutting-edge AI-powered accessibility feature is expected to be officially rolled out to global users through system updates later this year.
