Apple released the first developer beta of iOS 27.3 early this morning, officially opening the first batch of features in the China-market version of “Apple Intelligence & Siri” for users to try. Features announced on Apple’s Chinese website include Writing Tools, Live Translation, Clean Up, Genmoji, and Notification Summaries, marking the start of Apple’s AI features rolling out to users in mainland China.
An important change in this update is integration with Alibaba’s Qwen. Qwen has been integrated into Siri, Visual Intelligence, and Writing Tools, allowing users to directly perform Q&A, text generation, and image processing within the system. According to Ifanr’s tests, Visual Intelligence’s image-based product search also integrates Baidu Search. Siri, meanwhile, uses a glowing halo interaction design around the edges of the screen and supports double-tapping the bottom of the screen to switch to text input.
In actual use, Siri can directly invoke Qwen to answer basic questions. For example, when a user asks about sleep issues, Siri can provide general advice; if a personalized plan is needed, the user can tap the Qwen logo to jump to the Qwen app, where the existing conversation information will automatically sync. Qwen can also combine the user’s previous sleep records, exercise data, and lifestyle habits to provide further suggestions.
Live Translation covers Messages, Phone, and FaceTime, with Phone and FaceTime only supporting one-on-one calls. AirPods translation requires the earbuds to be updated to the latest firmware and paired with an iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled.
The first batch of features supports the iPhone 15 Pro series, the entire iPhone 16 lineup and later models, as well as iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. The device and Siri language must be set to Simplified Chinese or English. Note that this rollout only covers the first batch of Apple Intelligence features; the new Siri AI previewed at WWDC 2026 has not yet launched. This update from Apple also means its AI localization deployment in the Chinese market is moving forward further.
