The Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau recently issued the Policy Guide for Promoting Smart Glasses Consumption, introducing seven support measures. These measures cover new-purchase subsidies, first-store openings and product debuts, brand collaborations, international consumer scenarios, departure tax refunds, digital transformation, and international market expansion, aiming to boost smart glasses consumption and unlock the market potential of new smart terminals.
According to the guide, under the Beijing 2026 Implementation Rules for Subsidies for Home Appliance Trade-Ins and Purchases of Digital and Smart Products, consumers who buy eligible smart glasses can receive a 15% new-purchase subsidy based on the final sale price after deducting discounts from all stages, with a maximum subsidy of 500 yuan per item.
The policy not only reduces the cost of buying smart glasses through direct subsidies, but also provides support in areas such as brand promotion, the development of consumer scenarios, and industry internationalization. It reflects Beijing’s policy direction of promoting smart glasses from an emerging technology product to a mass-market consumer device. As subsidies and supporting measures are implemented, the smart glasses market is expected to further expand its consumer base and accelerate product adoption.
