On November 2, at the 2026 World Internet Conference, Ant Group's health AI Ant Afu won the "Leading Science and Technology Award," becoming the first vertical health AI application to receive the award. At present, Ant Afu has served 150 million users and answers nearly 20 million health consultations per day, making it the world's largest health management AI app.

Professor Zhang Ling from the School of Public Health at Capital Medical University believes that the rapid development of health AI represented by Ant Afu meets the public's growing health needs. It is the best practice for implementing the "Healthy China" strategy and the "AI+" initiative, and plays a positive role in improving the convenience of medical care for the public and consolidating the foundation of public health. The rapid development of professional health AI will actively promote the building of a balanced, inclusive, high-quality, and efficient Healthy China.
Serving 150 million users, Afu becomes the first health AI to win the Leading Science and Technology Award
As an international science and technology award, the World Internet Conference Leading Science and Technology Award aims to recognize the world's most leading Internet scientific and technological achievements of the year. Since the award was established, Ant Afu is the only vertical health AI application to have won it.
Data shows that among users served by Afu, 55% come from third-tier cities and below, one quarter are elderly people, and 16% of consultations occur between midnight and 6 a.m.
"Ant Afu's mission is to make seeing a doctor easier and life healthier," said Zhang Junjie, Vice President of Ant Group and President of Ant Health Business Group. To make seeing a doctor easier, Afu has cooperated with the National Healthcare Security Administration, 24 provincial and municipal healthcare security administrations, and 45 provincial and municipal health commissions. It has connected more than 5,000 hospitals and 300,000 human doctors, providing full-process smart medical services such as online consultations, AI appointment registration, cloud-based patient accompaniment, report interpretation, and medical insurance payment. Afu's user side and doctor side are interconnected, helping users handle minor illnesses at home, providing full-process AI accompaniment for offline medical visits, and enabling intelligent post-diagnosis follow-up by doctors.
Prevention is the most cost-effective and effective health strategy. In terms of making life healthier, Afu has partnered with 18 major health hardware brands and pioneered the "AI + hardware + services" health management model, making health status understandable, cared for, and well managed. In June this year, Afu launched the "Scientific Weight Loss of 100 Million Jin" campaign. By connecting smart devices such as body fat scales and smart wristbands, it provides health services such as AI personal trainers and AI nutritionists, and has helped 3.7 million users lose more than 7 million jin. Zhang Junjie said that in the future, Afu will focus on five major scenarios—weight, diet, exercise, sleep, and mental health—to help more people shift from "passive treatment" to "active health."
Afu frequently wins domestic and international awards, putting Healthy China and AI+ into practice
At present, China is at the intersection of implementing the "Healthy China" strategy and the "AI+" initiative. The rapid development of AI healthcare is the result of national policies focusing on people's well-being and enterprise innovation anchored in user needs.
As a vertical health AI, the professionalism, security, and trustworthiness of large models are the foundation of Ant Afu. According to public information, Afu is based on Ant Group's self-developed Bailing large model, builds health AI applications according to medical standards, and deeply participates in the construction of the national AI application pilot testing base in the healthcare field, establishing safety guardrails for Afu and the industry.

In May this year, the spokesperson of the National Development and Reform Commission specifically mentioned Afu at a press conference: the national AI application pilot testing base has incubated health AI applications such as "Ant Afu" and deployed them in medical institutions in multiple provinces and cities, allowing residents to enjoy intelligent services.
As a representative of China's health AI, Ant Afu has frequently won major international awards. Not long ago, Afu was named one of TIME's "Best Inventions" of 2026 and was the only Chinese AI application on the list. Previously, Afu was also selected as an outstanding case at the United Nations AI for Good Summit.
