Roblox has announced the launch of a new AI creation tool called Build, and upgraded its Studio creator tool system, using artificial intelligence to lower the barrier to game development, allowing more users to directly generate editable game content through text prompts. This feature will begin testing on July 28, further advancing the platform's philosophy of "games created by users."
Roblox stated that over the past 20 years, the platform has continuously developed around user-generated content (UGC), and currently has 132 million daily active users. The newly launched Build is an AI creation tool designed with mobile first in mind. Users can directly input natural language prompts in the Roblox mobile app, such as describing game scenes, gameplay, and environmental elements. The system can then generate a basic version of the game, which creators can then modify, test, and share or publish.

Build runs on multiple AI models, including open-source models and Roblox's own proprietary models, capable of handling game mechanics, environment design, character creation, visual styles, and sound. Because these models are trained on large amounts of 3D data and game-specific data, Roblox AI can generate 3D objects and complete scenes directly applicable to game development and can be used in conjunction with existing creation tools.
The tool is deeply integrated with Roblox Studio, allowing creators to start creating on mobile devices and then perform more complex editing through Studio; they can also call AI agents within Studio and view development progress via mobile devices. Roblox emphasized that AI-generated content will still go through the same review process as regular games and participate in platform recommendations through user retention metrics, without lowering quality standards.
In addition to Build, Roblox plans to introduce AI tools for professional developers, including game testing agents, data analysis agents, and experimental agents, helping creators identify bugs, analyze player behavior, and optimize user engagement and business performance.
Furthermore, Roblox is developing more generative AI capabilities, including procedural models that can generate parametric 3D models based on text or images, as well as an AI model called Cube that can generate complete editable 3D game scenes from a single prompt.
As AI technology rapidly integrates into the game development process, Roblox aims to further expand the creator base through intelligent tools, allowing more ordinary users to participate in game production and drive the UGC game ecosystem toward a more efficient and automated direction.
