Foreign media have revealed that Microsoft will launch a new AI meeting assistant called Facilitator for Teams in August this year. It uses artificial intelligence to analyze meeting conversations in real time and resolve communication questions for participants. This feature focuses on real-time meeting assistance, automatically identifying unanswered questions and ambiguous expressions during discussions, and pushing relevant supplementary information into the meeting chat box, thus addressing issues of incomplete information transmission in group discussions.

Function Usage and Permission Control
Facilitator is default off and does not speak in meetings on its own; it needs to be manually enabled by users to take effect. Enterprise administrators can control the scope of the function's display, while regular users can also choose whether to enable it, balancing enterprise management needs with personal usage habits. This AI assistant replies sparingly, usually outputting less than once per meeting, and matches content with the meeting agenda and real-time conversation. When necessary, it can retrieve additional information online. The function has usage restrictions and only supports standard Teams meetings; it cannot be used in calls, online seminars, or large-scale events.
Phased Release Plan
Microsoft has announced a clear release schedule. In early August, it will be available for testing to selected users. By late August, Facilitator will be fully rolled out, allowing all eligible Teams users to access this AI meeting assistance capability. When running, the tool will read meeting conversation content in real time, generate corresponding responses by identifying information gaps, and complete intelligent responses using real-time conversation data. At the same time, Microsoft will also launch several optimization features such as Recap and Efficiency Mode, upgrading the Teams office experience from multiple dimensions including meeting records and smooth operation.
