Music streaming platform Deezer officially launched a brand new free online AI music detector on June 11, 2026, aimed at helping users identify AI-generated songs in playlists across various streaming platforms.

The tool supports 27 languages and covers 20 of the most popular platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music, marking a key step forward in cross-platform technological output for the streaming industry to address the proliferation of synthetic music and potential fraud issues.

This move comes as AI-generated music is experiencing a surge on streaming services. According to recent data disclosed by Deezer, as much as 44% of new uploaded music on its platform is AI-generated, with nearly 75,000 AI songs received daily and over 2 million monthly. Although the actual listener engagement rate for this content is only 1% to 3%, approximately 85% of the playtime has been flagged as fraudulent and has had its monetization eligibility revoked.

While Spotify and Apple Music still prefer a conservative strategy of tag-based recommendations, Deezer has chosen to proactively remove AI tracks from recommendation lists and curated playlists, and has opened up its detection technology to external platforms. It may even consider further strengthening copyright regulation through updates to supplier policies or direct removal of content.

Against the backdrop of multimodal AI lowering the barriers to content production, Deezer's move not only builds its own competitive differentiation but also provides a technical reference for the entire streaming ecosystem to address copyright infringement and traffic fraud by increasing transparency.
