Recently, an update to the official support documentation of Anthropic has caused quite a stir within the AI community. Media reports indicated that Anthropic had revised its terms, suggesting that Claude Pro subscribers might need to purchase additional usage credits when using the powerful Opus series models (especially when using the Claude Code feature). This change has made many long-time users uneasy, as they believe core benefits previously included in the monthly $20 subscription fee have been effectively "diminished" and moved behind a higher-cost barrier.

Official Clarification: It Was Just a Technical Oversight

Facing user concerns, Anthropic responded quickly, officially releasing a clarification statement through its official Reddit account. The company explained that the reported charging information actually came from an "outdated and incorrect" support article.

Since the backend documentation had indeed mentioned related billing restrictions before the official introduction of the Opus4.5 model into the Pro plan, but this warning was not removed in time after the model was officially launched and included in the subscription benefits. Even after subsequent updates to Opus4.6 and 4.7, this misleading text remained on the page. Records also confirm that this was purely a mistake in document maintenance.

Subscription Benefits Remain Unchanged, Opus Continues to Be Free to Use

Anthropic clearly stated in their statement that the privileges of Claude Pro users have not changed at all. Users do not need to pay any extra fees to continue accessing and using the Opus series models during their subscription period.
