Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a common phenomenon in today's gaming industry. Although some upcoming AAA titles are cautious about generative AI, more and more game developers are actively adopting this new technology. For example, Ubisoft now requires applicants for all job positions to have experience with generative AI. The lead developer of "ARC Raiders" stated that they are completely reforming Nexon's development process through AI technology.

Jack Buser, global head of Google Cloud Gaming, revealed in an interview that at least 90% of game developers in the industry are using AI tools. Despite this, many developers usually choose not to disclose it due to concerns about criticism. He pointed out that many players may not realize that their favorite games today are actually developed with the help of AI. According to a survey conducted at the Cologne Game Show last summer, about 90% of developers said they are using AI.

Buser also mentioned that many studios are using Google's generative AI tools (such as Gemini) to speed up the game development process, thus launching the most popular titles in the market. He emphasized that this trend is positive for the industry because AI technology can accelerate game releases and reduce costs, allowing developers to take more risks.

In the interview, Buser also mentioned that Capcom is using Gemini and Nano Banana to handle low-value tasks and create content for games. He said that Capcom uses generative AI to generate creative ideas for small assets (such as pebbles and grass), while the art director asks Gemini to filter out the most interesting designs, which are then produced by the art team. This way, developers can focus more on important tasks, such as designing enemies and protagonists.
