OpenAI has officially launched Workspace Agents (Workspace Agents), a feature designed for team collaboration. This new functionality is intended to handle complex and long-term workflows, enabling AI to evolve from a simple conversational assistant into a virtual employee capable of autonomously performing tasks.

These agents run in the cloud and are available 24/7. Even when team members are offline, they can continue to advance projects. Whether it's report writing, code review, or message response, agents can seamlessly collaborate across time zones and tools.

Breaking the Q&A Model for Deep Collaboration

Different from traditional AI, Workspace Agents have the ability to process files, run code, and store memory. This means they not only answer questions but also continuously improve their performance based on past interactions, even automatically submitting tickets in office software like Slack.

Within OpenAI, the sales team has used agents to automatically organize call records and screen potential customers. The accounting team has used this tool to shorten the previously tedious month-end closing process to just a few minutes, significantly improving the efficiency of the company's administrative operations.
