The first full-process AIGC animated film of China, "The Reunion Mandate," held a release event titled "Unity Across the Straits for Reunion" in Beijing, officially announcing its nationwide cinema release on February 28. The official "Return Home" trailer was also released simultaneously. Part of the film's box office revenue will be donated to the cause of national reunification.
The film was jointly guided by the Central Committee of the China Democratic League and the China Media Group. It received technical support from the National Key Laboratory of Ultra-High Definition Audio-Visual Production and Presentation of the China Media Group. It was co-produced by Beijing Guanmu Interactive Entertainment and Xin Yinglian Film & Television, representing an innovative practice of new-quality productive forces in the cultural field.
The film has deep creative roots. Its IP was launched in 2014, taking the giant pandas "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" gifted by the mainland to Taiwan as prototypes, creating the core characters "Tuanzai" and "Yuanniu," two panda siblings. Focused on the emotional theme of "separation, search, and reunion," the story follows Tuanzai who, with the power of the Five Elements, embarks on a journey to find his sister, telling a warm tale that profoundly conveys the blood bond between compatriots and expresses the deep aspirations of people on both sides of the strait for peace, development, exchange, and cooperation. Every frame is imbued with the beauty of Eastern aesthetics.
The film had a preview screening in Beijing on December 20, 2025. Prior to that, it went through key milestones such as project initiation, filming, wrap-up, and trailer release. The preparation process gathered the efforts of multiple industry players. As a technological innovation, "The Reunion Mandate" relies on the AI full-process animation production platform independently developed by Beijing Guanmu Interactive Entertainment (included in the Beijing Science and Technology Plan Project and passed the inspection of the National Radio and Television Administration), achieving full-process AI production from character design, scene layout to shot rendering.
The production team solved industry pain points such as role consistency control, stiff micro-expressions, and logical breaks across scenes through technological breakthroughs. They successfully achieved precise capture of micro-expressions and continuous long-sequence actions, with image precision reaching 4K ultra-high definition. The deep application of AI technology significantly improved the creative efficiency, generating 20 character design options within 30 seconds and enabling automated scene rendering. This compressed the traditional animation production cycle of 2-3 years to 5-6 months, allowing the creative team to focus more on the story's core and artistic expression.
