With the explosive growth of artificial intelligence technology, the popularity of generative AI (AIGC) in China is exceeding external expectations. According to the 57th "Statistical Report on the Development of China's Internet Network" released on the morning of February 5th (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"), by December 2025, the number of users of generative AI in China has reached 602 million.
This figure represents an astonishing increase compared to the end of 2024, with a growth rate of as high as 141.7%. At the same time, the penetration rate of generative AI has risen from a low level to 42.8%, increasing by 25.2 percentage points. This means that nearly every two people among Chinese internet users are currently using generative AI products. The technology has rapidly transformed from a "novelty" tool for a few people into a popular productivity tool.
In terms of application, generative AI is accelerating its integration into daily life and production processes. Whether it is office assistance, creative design, or intelligent interaction, AIGC is becoming a key engine driving the digital and intelligent transformation of society. This explosive user growth also puts higher demands on the underlying infrastructure.
To support the rapid development of the AI industry, China has also achieved remarkable results in computing power construction. Currently, there are 42 supercomputing clusters with more than 10,000 cards nationwide, and the total smart computing power scale exceeds 1,590 EFLOPS. This computing power level not only effectively supports the iteration and application of large models domestically but also keeps China's smart computing power scale at the forefront globally.
As the "14th Five-Year Plan" enters its final stage, China's Internet has made significant progress in technological innovation and coverage. Looking ahead, relevant departments have stated that they will continue to focus on technological innovation and people's livelihood, further strengthening the role of the Internet in supporting the construction of modernization with Chinese characteristics.
