Google has recently launched the A2UI (Agent-to-User Interface) open standard, empowering AI agents to create graphical interfaces instantly. AI is no longer limited to sending text responses; it can now directly generate form fields, buttons, and other user interface elements, seamlessly integrating into any application, bringing a revolutionary change to AI interaction experiences.
From Pure Text to Dynamic Interfaces: A Paradigm Shift in AI Interaction
A2UI is released under the Apache 2.0 license, aiming to standardize how AI agents create visual responses and bridge the gap between generative AI and graphical user interfaces. The core idea behind this standard is that pure text or code outputs often fail to meet the needs of complex tasks.
Google uses a restaurant booking scenario to illustrate this pain point—traditional text-based conversations are lengthy and cumbersome, requiring users to repeatedly confirm details like dates, times, and group sizes across multiple rounds of dialogue. With A2UI, an AI customer service agent can immediately generate a complete form with date pickers and available time slots, allowing users to complete the booking by simply clicking, significantly improving interaction efficiency.
Its ultimate goal is to create "context-aware interfaces"—dynamic interfaces that automatically adjust as the conversation progresses, presenting the most suitable interactive elements in real-time based on user needs.

Transferring Data, Not Code: Achieving Security and Flexibility
The unique aspect of A2UI lies in its working mechanism: transferring structured data instead of executable code. This standard is platform-agnostic, running seamlessly across different environments such as web, mobile, and desktop.
