Recently, OpenAI conducted a large-scale survey among 9,000 employees, and the results showed that employees who use AI tools can save an average of 40 to 60 minutes of professional work time per day. This time-saving phenomenon is particularly evident in roles such as data science, engineering, communications, and accounting. The survey results show that 75% of respondents believe that AI not only improves work efficiency but also enhances the quality of output.

With the gradual popularization of AI technology, although there are still doubts about whether AI can bring substantial productivity gains, OpenAI's survey results reflect the positive impact of AI in daily work. Employees who frequently use multiple AI tools have seen significant improvements in work efficiency. In fact, even some non-coding positions have seen a 36% increase in coding-related messages sent in the past six months. This indicates that more and more employees are beginning to use AI tools to optimize their workflows.

Additionally, Brad Lightcap, OpenAI's Chief Operating Officer, pointed out that the speed at which companies adopt AI technology is accelerating, with adoption rates in certain scenarios even exceeding those in the consumer market. To date, over 1 million companies have paid to use OpenAI's ChatGPT Work Suite, and the number of paid user seats has reached 7 million.

However, despite the excitement around AI's popularity, a recent study by MIT shows that most companies' investments in generative AI have not yielded returns. Meanwhile, research from Harvard and Stanford warns that much of the content generated by employees is called "workslop"—low-quality content that appears high-quality on the surface. In response, OpenAI stated that its observations do not fully align with the conclusions of external studies, and it still firmly believes in the potential of AI tools to improve work efficiency and quality.

As AI technology becomes increasingly embedded in all industries, employees are gradually experiencing the convenience and changes brought by AI. Three-quarters of employees say that with the help of AI tools, they can accomplish tasks that were previously impossible, which not only changes their way of working but also provides new possibilities for future work models.
