Amanda Kahlow recently announced that her new company, 1mind, has completed a $30 million Series A funding round, led by Battery Ventures, bringing the company's total funding to $40 million. 1mind focuses on developing a sales AI agent called Mindy, which has been quietly operating for a year. Kahlow is a well-known figure in the sales and marketing technology industry, having founded 6sense and leaving in 2020.

Unlike many sales agents in the market, Mindy does not engage in cold emails or cold calling. Kahlow said that Mindy is designed to handle active customer inquiries, helping with all aspects of the sales process, including providing support when customers visit the website or have Zoom calls. Mindy can replace sales engineers in large enterprise sales calls and is responsible for onboarding new clients.

Mindy is capable of handling the company's product knowledge, technical details, and competitor information, which Kahlow refers to as "superpowers," although it doesn't possess real superhuman abilities. Mindy is built on multiple large language models, including OpenAI and Google Gemini, and uses deterministic AI to reduce the occurrence of incorrect information. Once Mindy accesses the company's sales materials, it will provide consistent information, and if it encounters an uncertain question, Mindy will honestly admit that it doesn't know.

To date, 1mind has partnered with more than 30 companies, including HubSpot, LinkedIn, and New Relic, helping them with sales. Kahlow said that the company's clients have signed annual contracts, with an average contract value in the six figures. To further demonstrate Mindy's capabilities, Kahlow even created her own virtual persona and used it during meetings with venture capitalists.

Although the current technology has not completely replaced the role of high-end account managers, Kahlow believes that more sales functions will be replaced by AI technology in the future. She pointed out that the current challenge lies in building trust, and in the future, transactions will take place between agents without the need for human involvement.

Currently, 1mind has 44 employees and 71 open positions, including roles for account managers. The funding round also included participation from multiple investment companies.
