With the rapid development of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important part of today's society. To cultivate students' AI awareness and application skills, the Beijing education authorities have fully launched AI general courses in the new semester. So far, more than 1400 primary and secondary schools have participated. The course covers all educational stages from primary to high school, aiming to help students move from basic understanding of AI to reasonable use of AI, and then to innovative application of AI.

According to the course schedule, students will receive at least 8 class hours of AI education each academic year. The course content includes cultivating AI awareness and thinking skills, enhancing application and innovation capabilities, as well as education on ethics and social responsibility. Through such course design, students not only learn how to use AI tools but also understand their impact in society, and develop a sense of responsibility for technological development.
The course objectives vary across different educational stages, with the design gradually guiding students to delve deeper into learning. The courses will be conducted through project-based learning, helping students develop innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities. For example, primary school students may engage in courses such as visual programming and AI-made picture books, while high school students may experience more complex machine learning basics.
When implementing AI courses, schools can choose to set them up independently or integrate them with subjects such as information technology, general technology, science, and comprehensive practical activities, ensuring the richness and coherence of the course content. This integrated design can effectively avoid repetition of course content, enabling students to enhance their overall quality through learning in multiple areas.
