During the upcoming September, Dubai's downtown will welcome a restaurant called WOOHOO, which will make a stunning opening with the concept of "future-style dining." It is located near the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa. The unique feature of this restaurant is that its dishes are entirely designed by a large language model named Chef Aiman, while human chefs are responsible for the actual cooking process.
The co-founder of WOOHOO, Ahmet Oytun Cakir, revealed that the name Chef Aiman combines "AI" and "man," representing the innovative application of artificial intelligence in the field of cooking. This AI model has been trained for years through food science research and thousands of global recipe data, enabling it to recombine elements such as taste, acidity, and umami to create impressive culinary recipes.
Although Aiman cannot personally taste or smell the dishes like human chefs, its design philosophy and data analysis capabilities are sufficient to help human chefs innovate. After the initial design, the dishes will be tasted and adjusted by human chefs, overseen by the renowned chef Reif Othman in Dubai.
In an interactive interview, Aiman stated that through feedback from human chefs on its suggestions, it can continuously improve and understand which creative ideas can go beyond the limitations of data. The development team emphasized that their goal is not to replace human cooking skills, but to use AI as a tool for creativity and inspiration. Cakir also mentioned that Chef Aiman specially designed new dishes that can reuse ingredients commonly discarded in the food industry, reflecting its concern and responsibility towards the environment.
The opening of WOOHOO restaurant marks another important attempt at combining artificial intelligence with culinary creativity. The future of the restaurant industry may thus be revitalized with new vitality and possibilities.
