The outfits you’ve posted on social platforms over the years are being quietly collected by Meta into an AI wardrobe. The company recently and quietly launched Style Sketch, a free fashion app that connects to Facebook or Instagram, recognizes clothing from photos you’ve shared, and assembles a virtual closet; new items you have on hand can also be photographed on the spot, captured in a short video, or dragged in directly from your camera roll. In effect, it gathers your clothes scattered across different places into a digital library first.

From Wardrobe to Lifelike Models

Building up enough clothes is only the first step. Style Sketch combines your style preferences and body shape to apply outfit looks to a virtual model that matches your body type and skin tone—how the same clothes look on different people no longer has to rely on your imagination. If you want to find new ways to style a particular item, it offers inspiration; connect it to the weather, and it generates daily outfits; plug in your destination, trip length, and planned activities, and it can even map out your travel outfits and packing list day by day. You can browse trend inspiration and share outfits with friends, turning a personal stylist into a social experience.

Southeast Asia First, Privacy Questions Left Open

For now, the app is available free on iOS and Android in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand; Meta has not said whether it will expand to more regions. By using a free strategy to test the waters in emerging markets first, it also avoids the stricter data-regulatory scrutiny of Europe and the U.S. Its privacy disclosures are restrained: the store page states that it may process personal information and content such as photos and videos; Google Play says data is encrypted in transit and allows users to request deletion. When AI starts managing your wardrobe, which old photos are accessed and whether they can truly be wiped clean are still the dials users need to keep a close eye on.
