Microsoft plans to start rolling out adjustments to Copilot Studio in September, requiring human approval before AI agents use tools. Copilot Studio is Microsoft's platform for building and managing AI agents, allowing agents to connect business tools such as email, service tickets, and payments.
In the official description, Microsoft stated that Copilot Studio now allows developers to require human approval before an AI agent runs specific tools. Through switches for each tool and each agent, any tool call requiring human approval will be paused and display an approval request, explaining the agent's intent so users can approve, approve the session, or reject it before the action is executed.
Microsoft also listed three applicable scenarios: sending an email, closing a service ticket, and processing a payment. Once these actions are configured with approval, the AI agent cannot proceed on its own.
