According to CCTV News, a recent AI dating fraud targeting middle-aged and elderly women has emerged. Unlawful individuals use AI-generated fake dating partners to defraud money. The Chengdu police in Sichuan recently dismantled an "AI dating" gang, arresting 28 suspects including Wang, with the case involving over one million yuan and affecting more than 50 victims.

"Two-Act Play": AI Image + Real Person After-sales Performance

Complainant Ms. Bian saw a matchmaking company on a video platform, and someone with the nickname "Director Wang of the Matching Center" sent her a profile and photo of "Li Ge." She paid 2000 yuan for the service but was never able to contact the person. Police investigation found that the signing company did not exist, but only sales, editing, and host positions were present at the site. The editing computer contained the same AI male guest image that Ms. Bian had received.

The gang used AI male images for live broadcasts and pre-written scripts, with hosts using voice changers to impersonate "high-quality males" for live interactions. After-sales personnel then continued the performance with victims, never offering real dating. Although Wang returned Ms. Bian's money, the police seized conclusive evidence by monitoring his live broadcast account and arrested him while he was still using AI images for live streaming.

CCTV pointed out that such fictitious identity fraud is evident and still spreading on short video platforms, calling on platforms to establish risk classification handling mechanisms and transfer fraud clues to relevant authorities. Experts advocate for implementing AI-generated content labels, improving identification risk control, and blocking推送 from algorithms; ordinary users can also use technology to verify the authenticity of suspected AI content and strengthen risk awareness.
