HCL Technologies, an Indian IT giant, has announced its entry into the AI data center market to meet the growing AI demands of both the government and private sectors. HCL Tech will invest up to 35 billion Indian rupees (approximately 2.489 billion Chinese yuan) to build AI data centers, with the potential to expand to a capacity of 50MW.
End-to-end Integrated Solutions
This investment will combine HCL Tech's existing capabilities in AI data center design, DevOps development and operations, and AI cloud operations to create an integrated end-to-end solution. The company sees the opportunity in India, one of the fastest-growing IT markets globally, and expects the total capacity of data centers in India to grow from the current 1.8GW to 5-7GW by 2030, with a significant portion of the new capacity coming from AI data centers.
As the AI wave continues to intensify, the demand for computing infrastructure in the Indian market is rapidly increasing. HCL Tech's move aims to seize the opportunity in this growing market, providing full-chain AI data center services from design to operation for the government and private sectors.
