On the track of AI-assisted office work, Anthropic has taken another critical step. Recently, the company officially launched the web version and mobile app of Claude Cowork for Max subscription users, marking the smart collaboration tool's transformation from a single desktop application into a comprehensive knowledge and administrative office platform covering all scenarios.
Claude Cowork initially debuted as a desktop application, mainly focusing on programming assistance and basic knowledge work. With this update, users can now not only create tasks on their computers but also track project progress and receive feedback anytime, anywhere via their phones. Even when the laptop is closed, background tasks can continue to run smoothly until a key decision point requires user confirmation. This "always-on" feature has transformed Cowork from a simple coding tool into an "AI assistant colleague" that works across devices and maintains continuity.

Anthropic's expansion of the application form reflects the core logic of current AI office software development: the competition is no longer just about the strength of chatbot capabilities, but rather about who can more deeply integrate into the user's daily workflow. To demonstrate the practical value of the tool, Anthropic released usage data analysis based on 600,000 institutions and 1.2 million aggregated conversations.
Data shows that although "code writing" is the most talked-about scenario in AI applications, the core actual application scenarios of Cowork are more inclined toward handling trivial "work-related tasks." In all usage records, the highest proportion (33.4%) is "business process operations," including integrating fragmented information into reports, organizing onboarding checklists, reconciling accounts, and maintaining tables, primarily serving finance, human resources, and administrative positions. In comparison, software development-related work accounts for only 8.7%.
