Recently, in the newly released iOS 27 system, Apple made significant adjustments to its artificial intelligence strategy and introduced a new dedicated Siri AI app. This app not only features a more modern chatbot interface but also introduces for the first time a function that allows users to easily switch between Siri AI and ChatGPT without diving into system settings.

According to reports, the Siri app provides a familiar text input box and supports images, file attachments, and access to historical conversations. Although the app defaults to Apple's more powerful Siri AI, users can simply long-press the input box and click the "Ask…" option that appears to bring up a selection menu, quickly switching between Siri and ChatGPT. This move marks another step by Apple in its attempt to build an open artificial intelligence ecosystem.

However, the current version still has some functional limitations. The most significant limitation is that the conversation context cannot be shared between different AI models. After switching models, the new model will not be able to see the previous conversation history. Additionally, after closing and reopening the app, the default model resets to Siri, and it is currently unclear whether this is a temporary setting during the testing phase. It is worth noting that the ChatGPT switching feature does not depend on whether the ChatGPT extension is enabled in the system settings.

Although Apple currently does not provide an option to set ChatGPT as the default model, the release of the dedicated Siri AI app in iOS 27 clearly demonstrates Apple's efforts to improve user AI interaction experience and its next step in exploring the openness and integration of AI models.
