On June 9, Meituan's Core Local Commerce (CLC) announced a new round of organizational restructuring, officially establishing the "AI Transformation" department, marking an upgrade in the company's strategic layout for AI transformation and B2B industrial applications.
The newly established AI Transformation department will focus on AI to B business and internal AI deep transformation, led by Mu Yao, former general manager of Dianping. In terms of reporting relationships, Mu Yao will now report directly to Wang Puzhong, CEO of Meituan's Core Local Commerce, instead of Li Shubin, Senior Vice President and platform head. From the perspective of Meituan's internal organizational structure, this AI department is on par with core business units such as takeout and flash sales, and is considered a first-level business department within Meituan's CLC system.
As the leader of this new department, Mu Yao has extensive experience in business operations. During his tenure as general manager of Dianping, he was fully responsible for key tasks such as product upgrades, content ecosystem construction, and international expansion at Dianping. Until April 2026, when Tao Xuexuan, a vice president of Meituan, took over as the head of Dianping, Mu Yao left Dianping. This new appointment signifies that he has officially taken on the core responsibility of using AI to empower local commerce at Meituan.
