Google has recently announced a major upgrade to its "Quick Share" feature, further expanding the compatibility range for file transfer between this feature and Apple's AirDrop. This move means that more mainstream Android devices will be able to seamlessly transfer files and images with Apple devices in the future.

As a cross-device file transfer tool on Android that rivals Apple's AirDrop, Quick Share successfully integrated AirDrop's interoperability capabilities at the end of last year. After this update, several new flagship models, including the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, Pixel 10 series, OnePlus 15, Honor Magic V6, and Xiaomi 17T Pro, have already received native support.
Upgraded Bidirectional File Transfer Experience
In practice, users from both platforms can easily identify each other and send files by enabling the corresponding permissions in the system settings. Once an Android user enables "Share with Apple Devices," an Apple user can directly see that Android device on the native AirDrop interface, and the entire receiving process is completely consistent with the native Apple experience.
For Android devices that have not yet received native Quick Share support, the system also provides a convenient alternative solution. These devices can generate a unique QR code and use cloud services to share files with Apple users.
Future Expansion to More Devices
It is worth noting that this cross-platform transfer solution is not limited to smartphones but also perfectly supports file transfers between Android devices and iPad and Mac computers. This greatly benefits users who own multiple platform devices, breaking down the long-standing system ecosystem barriers.
According to Google's plan, the adaptation of this feature will not stop. In the coming months, it will gradually roll out this feature to more devices such as the Motorola Razr Fold 2026, OPPO Find X8 series, and Honor Magic8 Pro.
