According to the latest data provided by DataEye Research Institute to First财经, in April this year, the total number of AI dramas and anime series added on the Douyin native platform alone reached 44,200 in a single month. In the same period, the number of new live-action short videos was only 3,248, meaning that the output of AI short videos has exceeded that of live-action short videos by more than 13 times. This data indicates that the application of generative AI technology in the film and television production sector has entered an explosive phase, significantly lowering the barriers to content production and marginal costs, achieving an industrial leap in capacity.

However, while the output has seen explosive growth, AI short videos also face a high market elimination rate and a polarization dilemma. Data shows that among the 44,200 AI videos added on Douyin in April, only 267 achieved a playback count of over 100 million, with a hit rate of just 0.6%. According to the "China AI Film and Television Development Report (2025-2026)", as of the end of February 2026, the total number of AI dramas and anime series being broadcast online reached 127,800, but the number of hit works with a playback count exceeding 100 million did not exceed 150, accounting for less than 0.117%. This means that on average, only one out of every 1,000 AI works can successfully complete the traffic loop.
