Elon Musk's new project, SpaceXAI, is moving quickly forward. Recently, data from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office showed that Musk has filed for a trademark registration application for SpaceXAI. This new brand is a reorganization of his original AI company xAI, which will become part of SpaceX, marking Musk's further integration of artificial intelligence and space infrastructure.

According to the trademark application documents, SpaceX has submitted two applications. One focuses on space computing power, involving satellite-based data center services and orbital computing infrastructure, including AI SaaS for data processing. The other is more comprehensive, covering areas such as global positioning systems, internet servers, telecommunications hardware, cloud storage services, and social networking. Notably, SpaceX has already taken over all operations of the former Twitter social media platform, and the trademark registration also includes content related to social networking.
As early as February this year, SpaceX completed a stock acquisition of xAI, making xAI a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX, with a valuation of $25 billion, and the combined total valuation reached $125 billion. Musk stated that SpaceXAI will launch a new logo to reflect its new identity.
The establishment of SpaceXAI integrates AI capabilities with space infrastructure. According to the plan, SpaceX will launch up to 1 million satellites in orbit to build a distributed AI data center. These satellites will be deployed at altitudes between 500 and 2000 kilometers and use solar energy for maximum energy collection, replacing traditional water-cooled or air-cooled systems in data centers.
On May 6, SpaceX also announced that the full computing power of the Colossus 1 data center would be made available to Anthropic, showing growing interest in collaboration in the field of orbital AI computing power. This transaction indicates that the integration of xAI and SpaceX has entered a substantive business level, making SpaceX's business not limited to the aerospace sector, and AI infrastructure will become one of its important business lines.
Although Musk is confident about this project, some people have expressed doubts, arguing that the complexity of the technology and unverified technology may affect its commercial viability.
