At the film photography lecture of the 16th Beijing International Film Festival, Tim, the founder of MediaStorm, shared the challenges his team faced when using AI for image creation. He revealed that the team spent three or four all-nighters to research and generate over 500 shots, but when they finally presented them, they received a lot of negative comments after they actively labeled them as "AI-generated."
Tim pointed out that in the released drone review video, they specifically used AI technology to highlight the features of this panoramic drone and clearly indicated this in the video. Despite their efforts, the online reaction was not satisfactory, with the comment section filled with critical voices. One viewer said, "AI content is too much to take." Another mentioned, "It lacks the soul that can move people."
It is worth noting that according to the "Regulations on the Identification of Artificial Intelligence Generated and Synthesized Content" implemented last year in our country, all generated content must be marked to ensure transparency. This means that any content generated by AI, whether it is text, images, or videos, must clearly indicate its source.
Tim was confused by the public's reaction and raised a reflection: "If we had not labeled the content as AI-generated, perhaps the audience's feedback would have been completely different." He believes this phenomenon reflects the public's view of AI technology and their expectations for creative content.
Despite the criticism, Tim and his team continue to explore the integration of AI and traditional image creation, hoping to find a better balance in the future, so that AI-generated content can find a suitable point between technology and art.
