Hong Kong Baptist University has made new achievements in the field of aerospace technology! On February 12, 2026, the Hyperbola-3 Launch Vehicle successfully sent the "HKBU One" satellite and seven other satellites into their designated orbits near the coastal area of Yangjiang, Guangdong. This is not only a successful launch, but also marks the official entry into space of the world's first artificial intelligence large model satellite designed for urban sustainable development.

Key Highlights: Deep Integration of AI and Remote Sensing Technology

World First: "HKBU One" is the world's first AI large model satellite specifically designed for urban sustainable development, featuring powerful intelligent sensing and data processing capabilities.

Constellation Networking: The satellite will work together with the previously launched "Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Satellite," forming Hong Kong's first low Earth orbit satellite constellation.

Precision Services: After entering orbit, it will provide high-precision geospatial information services for the Pearl River Delta region and key cities around the world, covering areas such as environmental monitoring, smart transportation, and disaster emergency response.

Space Power: A New Chapter in Response to the "14th Five-Year Plan"

Professor Luke Wu, President of HKBU, stated that this successful orbital insertion is a major milestone for the university in the field of intelligent remote sensing. In the future, HKBU will actively respond to the national "14th Five-Year Plan", continuously promote the integration of artificial intelligence and aerospace technology, and contribute "Hong Kong power" to the sustainable smart city development of the Greater Bay Area.
