In the latest technology collaboration updates, OpenAI has reached a major agreement with SB Energy, a subsidiary of SoftBank. The two parties will jointly invest $1 billion in SB Energy to promote the construction of artificial intelligence infrastructure. The core of this collaboration is the development of a new platform called "Stargate," which aims to provide powerful data processing capabilities for OpenAI's operations.
According to the agreement, OpenAI and SoftBank each invested $500 million to jointly build and operate a 1.2 gigawatt data center in Miriam County, Texas, USA. This project not only provides the computing power needed by OpenAI but is also expected to create thousands of jobs in the construction industry, positively promoting local economic development.

Notably, the priority partnership established between OpenAI and SoftBank and SB Energy will support both parties in exploring new models for data center construction. This innovative model may change the current way data centers are built and operated, making them more efficient and sustainable. At the same time, SB Energy has also received an $800 million redeemable preferred equity financing from Ares to further support its expansion plans.
SB Energy is currently developing several large-scale data center parks, with plans to start using them this year. These data centers not only meet OpenAI's growing computing needs but also have the potential to drive technological advancements across the entire industry.
Through this collaboration, OpenAI not only solidifies its leadership position in the field of artificial intelligence but also demonstrates its strategic vision for joint development with industry giants. As technology continues to evolve, future artificial intelligence applications will become more widespread, bringing us unprecedented opportunities and challenges.
