According to AIbase, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla has signed a $16.4 billion (about 22.8 trillion Korean won) AI chip manufacturing agreement with Samsung Electronics. This large order will be used for Samsung's new wafer factory in Texas to manufacture Tesla's next-generation AI6 chips.
Previously, Samsung disclosed this large manufacturing order at the end of July, but did not reveal the client. Musk's confirmation revealed Tesla's major strategic layout in the field of artificial intelligence hardware.

Musk revealed that Tesla's AI5 chip is "close to tape-out," which is a critical testing phase before mass production. Previously, he had said that AI5 was manufactured by TSMC, but at the October earnings conference, he further added that Samsung would also participate in the production of AI5. This shows Tesla's strategy of diversifying its supply chain.
Musk further stated that the design work for the next-generation AI chip in Tesla's AI series, AI6, has been officially launched. This significant cooperation with Samsung and continuous investment in AI5 and AI6 demonstrate Tesla's firm determination to develop high-performance AI chips independently, to support its future development in autonomous driving and artificial intelligence.
