Tesla has announced that its integrated xAI AI assistant Grok will soon cover the entire European market and also enter more Asian countries including India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. This expansion will be rolled out with the summer 2026 software update. The new version also adds vehicle control features to Grok, allowing drivers to make calls, control music playback, adjust the air conditioning, and even open the glove compartment with just voice commands.

From Chatbot to Vehicle Manager

Grok first launched on Tesla vehicles last summer, initially available only to users in the United States. At first, it mainly functioned as a chatbot, answering general knowledge questions or engaging in storytelling interactions. Subsequently, Tesla continued to expand its capabilities, and it now supports natural language navigation operations and location-based reminder functions. The summer 2026 update takes this further, enabling Grok to directly control vehicle hardware. Owners can wake it up by saying "Hey Grok" and then perform tasks such as making phone calls, searching for and playing music, adjusting the air conditioning, and even controlling seat ventilation and heating through voice commands.

Future Integration with FSD, Musk Says Voice-Controlled Driving Will Be Released This Autumn

Musk confirmed earlier this year that the integration of Grok and FSD is already under development. Tesla's goal is to turn Grok into a true "virtual driver," capable of understanding instructions given by drivers in natural language, such as parking the car by the roadside or changing lanes automatically. Musk said last month that the FSD voice control feature for Grok could be released as early as this autumn, and it may take about three more months. As Grok gradually covers more vehicle functions, drivers may no longer need to touch the central display, completing most operations just through voice commands.
