Microsoft recently announced an important adjustment to its Microsoft 365 Copilot, defaulting to turn off the disclaimer "AI content may not be accurate." This move mainly responds to feedback from enterprise users who felt this prompt was too distracting. During previous usage, users often saw this notice when using the Copilot chat feature, which was considered to affect their user experience.

In the recent update to its management console, Microsoft confirmed that the disclaimer at the bottom of the chat window will automatically be hidden when users use Copilot. This change only applies to the Copilot Chat feature within the Microsoft 365 Copilot application. Although the AI system is continuously being optimized, errors can still occur, and Microsoft hopes administrators can adjust how the disclaimer is displayed.

Although this disclaimer was originally intended to remind users that AI-generated content may be inaccurate, many users have expressed a desire to remove this notice. Microsoft did not disclose how many users requested this, but emphasized that this decision was made based on customer feedback. In a support document, Microsoft mentioned that different users had different opinions about the presentation of the disclaimer; some found it too prominent, while others felt it was not prominent enough.

To meet the needs of users who wish to retain this disclaimer, administrators can enable a new option in the management console called "Enhanced Awareness AI Disclaimer." Once enabled, the original disclaimer will reappear, presented in a more noticeable way, including bold text and a link button that administrators can configure with a custom URL.

This update is planned to be rolled out gradually over the next few weeks, with full deployment expected by December 2025. Microsoft stated that the aim is to continuously optimize the product experience based on user feedback.
