According to the latest report from 9to5Google, Google's Gemini app quickly climbed to the top of the free app charts on the US App Store, becoming the most popular free app for iPhone users. This success is largely due to its eye-catching Nano Banana image editing model, which has received widespread praise for its outstanding performance.

As of last Friday, Gemini had taken the number one position in the free apps on the US App Store, followed by OpenAI's ChatGPT, with the social media app Threads in third place. Additionally, other Google applications such as Google Search, Google Maps, Chrome, and Gmail also performed well on the list, ranking sixth, eighth, thirteenth, and twenty-first respectively. In the Canadian and UK markets, Gemini also performed well, ranking second in both.

Since its release on August 26, Gemini attracted 23 million users within two weeks. The Nano Banana image editing tool was used over 500 million times during this period, and it has gained widespread popularity because it can accurately maintain consistency in human features. Users can use this tool to mix multiple photos, transfer styles, and perform conversational editing. Free users can generate or edit up to 100 images per day, while paid subscribers (starting at $19.99 per month) can increase their daily limit to 1,000 images.

Gemini's rapid growth not only demonstrates the widespread attention given to generative AI tools on mobile devices but also boosted the overall rankings of other Google applications within the iOS ecosystem. This indicates that the demand for this emerging technology is growing rapidly, and generative AI applications are gradually becoming an essential part of the mobile app market.

The success of Gemini not only reflects users' desire for innovative applications but also signals the future potential of generative AI technology.
