Google Search Update Raises Concerns Among Website Owners: AI-Generated Content Threatens Site Rankings


Google Search has added a "+" button that supports uploading images or documents for in-depth analysis using the Gemini AI model. This feature is currently in an experimental phase and available to only a select group of users. After uploading, Gemini can parse the content, allowing users to ask questions instantly and get contextually relevant answers, such as asking where to purchase parts after uploading a manual.
The study found that AI-generated social media posts can be easily recognized by humans, with an accuracy rate of 70%-80%, far exceeding random levels. The research team tested multiple large language models, revealing their shortcomings in content recognition.
Robbie Stein, Vice President of Google Search, stated that advertising as a core revenue model will not disappear, and will leverage refined user information to develop more targeted new forms. He emphasized the expansion of the search service scope, and advertising remains key to commercialization.
OpenAI is adding control features to its video generation tool Sora to address controversies over deepfake abuse.
