Google DeepMind Collaborates with Robotics to Make Breakthroughs in New Materials


Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, announced the restart of the robot business and released recruitment information, seeking full-stack hardware, operations, systems, and machine learning engineers. This move marks OpenAI's expansion from the digital world to the physical world, focusing on embodied intelligence, aiming to apply large model capabilities to real-world entities, and emphasizing the core value of artificial intelligence.
Google DeepMind CEO Hassabis predicts that Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) could appear as early as 2029-2030, with key breakthroughs potentially achieved within the next three years. He points out that increased investment by tech companies is accelerating the maturity of core technologies such as multimodal understanding, autonomous decision-making, and AI agents.
Xiaomi has recently open-sourced the real-world post-training process of its vision-language-action large model, Xiaomi-Robotics-0, promoting the development of embodied intelligence. The team enabled the robot to master precise earphone storage and other complex tasks using only about 20 hours of task data, demonstrating the ability to quickly learn complex skills.
Boston Dynamics and Google DeepMind have collaborated to integrate the Gemini Robotics-ER1.6 AI model into the Spot robot, significantly enhancing its capabilities in industrial inspection, particularly in leak detection and reading instrument data, thereby improving the robot's autonomous decision-making performance.
More than 30 OpenAI and Google DeepMind employees jointly supported Anthropic in suing the U.S. Department of Defense, opposing its designation as a supply chain risk, arguing that this move abuses power and harms the AI industry.
