DeepSeek recently proposed a Super-agent vision: an ideal personal Agent should be continuous, efficient, proactive, and persistent. Right now, all Agents run in Session mode, where each chat window is a self-contained little environment that cannot communicate with the others. By DeepSeek's estimate, a person can keep up with 3 to 5 Sessions in parallel at most; any more and they can only act as a "context mover."
The solution is simple: hide Sessions from the front end and set up a two-layer Router plus Worker architecture. The Router acts as the chief coordinator, assigning work centrally, while a group of Workers runs in the background. On the front end, you deal with only one Agent. This is different from an Agent cluster: the latter disperses once the job is done, while this setup stays teamed up to keep pushing miscellaneous tasks forward and does not disband even after finishing.
From Passive Responses to Proactive Triggers, and Then to the Cloud
Most current Agents are the responsive type: "poke them once, and they move once." DeepSeek makes them proactive: group chats, email, calendars, and GitHub comments can all be connected as Triggers, with dual filtering from Fast Path rules and a Slow Path large model to sift out real requests. Task execution is also made asynchronous, decoupling front-end chat from back-end work; it further borrows from caching ideas, using Inline and Spill to store context. Finally, to escape "clocking out as soon as the computer is turned off," it moves thinking and state to the cloud, leaving only a lightweight local Daemon for execution, paired with Watchdog checks to enable 24/7 standby. DeepSeek has already open-sourced an experimental prototype on GitHub, but cross-Session memory, permissions, and security remain to be solved.
