According to Sina Tech, the first CMG World Robot Mount Tai Climbing Competition kicked off in Tai'an, Shandong. The race course runs from Red Gate to Mid-Heaven Gate, covering 3.9 km and including more than 3,100 steps. Continuous stone stairs, steep slopes, and bends are the main challenges, with a focus on testing robots' complex-terrain locomotion capabilities and autonomous decision-making.
In the legged robot racing event, the Beijing Lingyi Technology Team under Unitree Robotics entered with a Unitree A2 robot dog. It completed the course in an actual time of 41 minutes and 41 seconds, with a final result of 43 minutes and 41 seconds (a 2-minute penalty), taking first place. The entire race used a fully autonomous mode; through real-time perception and autonomous decision-making, A2 maintained stable movement on irregular stone steps.
In addition, the Shanghai Gaoyi Technology Team used Unitree A2 and B2 to win second place in the legged robot racing event and second place in the legged robot load-bearing event, respectively. In the Wanxian Tower to Doumu Palace section, B2 carried an effective load of 66 kg, or 74 kg including the support frame, and completed the mountain stair-climbing challenge.
According to reports, due to time and energy constraints, Unitree officially sent only two quadruped robot models, A2 and B2, to compete in the racing and load-bearing events. Several other independent teams also entered on their own after secondary development based on Unitree products. This not only demonstrates the mobility of quadruped robots in complex terrain, but also reflects the influence of Unitree products in the developer ecosystem and the field of secondary development.
