According to reports, action camera giant Insta360 is developing a smart glasses product focused on the shooting experience, aiming to carve out a niche in the market dominated by Meta with differentiated hardware design and AI capabilities.

The most distinctive feature of this glasses is its power supply solution - the battery is separated from the glasses body and worn on the user's body for power, while the core functional modules are integrated into the temples. This design significantly reduces the burden on the head, making it suitable for long-term wearing during filming. In addition, the front frame supports interchangeable lenses, making the glasses more like everyday accessories rather than technology devices.

In terms of AI, Insta360 is likely to first integrate Alibaba's Qwen large model, but the long-term goal is to develop its own generative AI capabilities and directly embed them into the device. Moreover, according to reports, Insta360 is also developing other forms of new products, and its product line layout is not limited to glasses. Looking at the market timing, global AI glasses shipments have surged 25 times in three years, and it is expected to exceed ten million units by 2026. However, Meta alone holds more than 90% of the market share, and the industry still lacks a real "killer" application that makes users have no choice but to buy.

Insta360's advantage lies in the anti-shake algorithms and imaging technologies accumulated in the action camera field, but making smart glasses is another matter entirely. Compared to Meta, which has secured a large amount of chip capacity, Insta360 faces significant pressure in the supply chain. At the same time, transitioning from the action camera community to the consumer eyewear market requires building distribution channels from scratch.

Whether Insta360 can solidify its position in the smart glasses market with the "shooting experience" card remains to be seen after the official product launch.
