As a leading player in the global autonomous driving industry, Waymo has recently officially announced a major upgrade: integrating Google's Gemini AI assistant deeply into its customized autonomous taxi Ojai, specifically designed for ride-hailing scenarios. This marks that unmanned logistics and mobility are accelerating toward a highly intelligent future.

In terms of market deployment and operational progress, the new Ojai model equipped with the Gemini assistant is now fully available to all regular users in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco. According to official plans, Waymo intends to expand this service to several new cities, including Denver, Las Vegas, and San Diego, later this year. In terms of travel options, passengers will be able to freely choose between the new Ojai model and the existing Jaguar I-Pace autonomous taxis based on their needs when calling for a ride-hailing service.

In terms of core functions and user experience, the in-vehicle Gemini assistant currently in the Beta testing phase offers passengers a more natural and smooth voice interaction mode. During the trip, passengers can easily perform various convenient operations, such as adjusting the cabin temperature, finding nearby points of interest, and listening to introductions about famous landmarks along the way, simply through everyday conversation. Additionally, if a passenger requests the AI to pull over, this instruction will be safely handed over to the underlying Waymo Driver for unified scheduling and processing.
