Market research firm CounterPoint Research recently released a new forecast report indicating that the cumulative revenue of global consumer wearable devices will exceed $1 trillion between 2026 and 2032, with an expected annual compound growth rate of 12% for the overall market.

Anshika Jain, chief analyst at the firm, pointed out that the application scenarios of wearable devices are rapidly expanding from traditional daily fitness to preventive healthcare. More and more consumers are willing to pay higher prices for high-end devices that can provide continuous health monitoring, which has directly led to a significant acceleration in overall revenue growth compared to shipment growth.

In terms of specific product categories, smart glasses are expected to see a surge in 2032, with their individual revenue potentially reaching $44 billion, accounting for about one-fifth of the total revenue of all wearable devices. With built-in cameras, microphones, speakers, and displays, smart glasses can support communication, real-time translation, navigation, and various real-time assistance functions, effectively reducing users' need to frequently check their smartphones.

From a technical perspective, AI glasses without screens will significantly boost overall shipments by relying on familiar form factors, more affordable prices, and rich camera and audio applications. Meanwhile, glasses with augmented reality (AR) display capabilities will gain higher value in the premium market by offering digital overlays for productivity, navigation, training, and entertainment.

Additionally, CounterPoint clearly predicts that smart pendants, smart rings, and smart glasses will be the fastest-growing categories among future wearables. Among them, smart pendants have huge potential for growth due to their low current market base and starting point. The firm's analysis suggests that discreet design, continuous online AI assistance, and precise physiological sensing technology will become the core drivers of rapid growth for smart pendants and smart rings.
