With both the monthly active users in the European Union surpassing 45 million, OpenAI's ChatGPT and the well-known interactive entertainment platform Roblox will be officially subject to the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). This means that the two platforms will have to follow the highest compliance framework set by the EU for super-large digital platforms.

According to the current progress plan of the European Commission, these two products could be formally designated as Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs as early as August this year. After this designation, the platforms will not only need to continuously upgrade their content moderation mechanisms, transparency reports, and risk prevention measures, but they will also face more stringent and routine compliance monitoring and reviews by EU regulatory authorities.
