According to The Information, Microsoft is testing the latest Moonshot AI model, Kimi K3, to evaluate its feasibility for integration with Microsoft Copilot and to advance the model's availability on the Azure platform. Currently, Kimi K3 is still in the internal testing and platform access phase and has not yet become an optional model for Copilot. Microsoft has also not announced specific launch dates, service regions, or pricing information for Kimi K3 on Azure.

This is not the first time Microsoft has introduced a Moonshot AI model. On July 1st, GitHub Copilot officially launched Kimi K2.7Code, which became the first open-weight model to enter the Copilot model selector, and it is hosted by GitHub based on Microsoft Azure. This model was initially available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, and Max users, while enterprise users needed to have their administrators manually enable it.

Currently, Microsoft provides the Kimi K2, Kimi K2.5, and Kimi K2.6 series models on the Microsoft Foundry platform. If Kimi K3 is later officially integrated into Azure, enterprise customers will be able to access the model through Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, unified billing system, and enterprise management capabilities, without directly connecting to Moonshot AI's services.

Microsoft's continuous expansion of the model selection options for Copilot and Azure reflects its AI product strategy evolving towards a multi-model architecture. In addition to long-term partner OpenAI, Microsoft has gradually introduced models from companies such as Anthropic, DeepSeek, xAI, Meta, and Moonshot AI in recent years, offering more flexible choices between performance, cost, and application scenarios based on different task requirements. The potential integration of Kimi K3 will further enrich the model supply for enterprise-level AI applications.
