The cybersecurity defense line is being redefined by a new operational unit. On July 21, the Japanese AI startup Sakana AI released the Fugu Cyber model, specifically designed to address the complexity of modern network defense. It achieved impressive results in the industry's most challenging security benchmark tests, outperforming leading closed-source competitors.
Specifically, Fugu Cyber achieved an 86.9% success rate in the CyberGym test and a 72.1% success rate in the CTI-REALM test, even outperforming OpenAI's GPT-5.5-Cyber and Anthropic's Claude Mythos-Preview. This means that, when facing real and sophisticated cyber attack and defense scenarios, this startup's specialized model has already surpassed general-purpose flagship models.
