Niels Bloemkamp, the renowned director who once amazed the world with his sci-fi masterpiece "District 9," has recently officially released his first AI micro-film, "Yin Bing." This approximately 13-minute sci-fi short film was entirely generated by ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 large model.
During the production process, Bloemkamp completed the entire film creation by guiding frame by frame through text prompts. It is worth noting that the film only obtained the appearance and voice authorization of 32 real actors, and professional concept designers participated in the assistance.
Exploring the Mysterious Plot and Opening a New Era for AI Feature Films
This short film continues the director's usual style of hard sci-fi and documentary, telling the story of a helicopter pilot who is drawn into a secret super-soldier program by the military. The entire film quickly attracted widespread attention from the global film and technology industries due to its tight visual rhythm and realistic texture.
Bloemkamp revealed on social media that he is currently planning to shoot a feature-length sci-fi film using the same method. For this purpose, he has established a new AI film studio, trying to gradually replace the complex production processes of traditional films.
