Meta announced today that it will officially discontinue its Llama API public preview service, which will take effect on July 6, 2026.

Since its release, the Llama API has been in public preview, serving as a window for developer experience and testing. With Meta's continuous iteration and upgrade of its developer tool ecosystem, this phased service has completed its historical mission. It is understood that after the service is discontinued, related API requests will no longer receive responses, and the system will return an inactive prompt, providing developers with corresponding redirection guidance to help them transition smoothly.

It should be noted that this adjustment only affects the API service. Meta's core asset — the Llama model itself — is not affected in any way. Developers and users can still access and use the Llama model through the official Meta Llama download page.

For developers currently using this API, Meta recommends moving their business to other third-party service providers that support the Llama model as soon as possible. In addition, Meta has also revealed that the company is working on building a brand-new developer pathway, aimed at providing users with a more efficient and stable way to develop and deploy Meta's AI models. More details about the new tools are expected to be released to the public soon, and developers can keep an eye on future updates.
