According to Bloomberg, global tech giant Meta is imitating SpaceX's business model and has officially established its own cloud business. This strategic move centers on reselling its previously purchased AI computing resources, which are currently idle, to external customers. Additionally, Meta plans to open access to AI models on its own infrastructure to the outside world.

As one of the largest buyers of NVIDIA GPUs, Meta has recently undergone several rounds of layoffs, aiming to concentrate funds on fully shifting towards artificial intelligence infrastructure. It is expected that the investment alone this year will reach as high as $14.5 billion. Although Meta launched its first large model, Muse Spark, developed under the leadership of former Scale AI executive Alexandr Wang, in April this year, and viewed it as the beginning of a complete transformation of its AI business, the remaining massive computing power indicates that the demand for internal model building has not yet fully consumed its significant hardware investments. In this context, reselling idle computing resources not only makes economic sense but also opens up a new B2B revenue path for Meta.
