Important personnel changes have taken place in the field of large AI models, with technology expert Sun Tianxiang officially joining Baidu as the head of the Basic Model Research and Development Department (BMU) and simultaneously entering the Baidu Model Committee (BMC). This key talent's addition marks further progress in Baidu's iteration of its AI organizational structure and systematic talent pipeline, which is expected to accelerate the development and technical breakthroughs of the ERNIE Base model.

Currently, Baidu has divided its large model R&D system into the Basic Model Research and Development Department (BMU) and the Application Model Research and Development Department (AMU), with the latter led by Jia Lei. This "dual-track" structural adjustment aims to enhance the iteration efficiency of large models through more precise division of labor. In recent periods, Baidu has continuously focused on introducing young technical forces into the basic model area.

This AI talent strategy, which uses organizational change to drive talent and product breakthroughs to validate the organization, is now entering a period of effectiveness verification. Recently, Baidu's open-source end-to-end OCR model, Unlimited OCR, achieved over 10,000 GitHub Stars within five days of release and successfully topped the GitHub Daily Trending, Python, HuggingFace global model trend list, and the multi-modal model trend list.

Amidst the intense competition among global tech giants for computing power and top talents, Baidu's strong reinforcement of its basic model R&D team not only helps consolidate its barriers in the field of underlying general large models but also provides a more competitive technological foundation for the long-term growth of its AI ecosystem.
