At the Volcano Engine FORCE Power Conference on June 23, 2026, ByteDance's "Doubao" large model received a major upgrade, with the concentrated release of Doubao Large Model 2.1Pro, the video generation model Seedance 2.5 and 2.04K version, the image creation model Seedream 5.0Pro, and the audio generation model 1.0. Among them, 2.1Pro has been significantly upgraded in three directions: Coding, Agent, and VLM, and is already available through the Volcano Engine API and integrated into the Koala ecosystem.

Regarding commercialization, Volcano Engine President Tan Dai clearly stated that Doubao's basic functions for general users (such as search and Q&A, writing and image generation, voice and video conversations, etc.) will remain free. At the same time, Doubao plans to launch a "Professional Edition" office task mode for professionals, equipped with the latest 2.1Pro model, providing high-end productivity services such as software development, data analysis, process automation, and scientific research.

This move marks the official start of Doubao's dual strategy of "free for mass users and paid for professional scenarios," consolidating the massive user traffic pool while precisely focusing on the B-end and professional-level AI tool market, further intensifying the competition in technology and ecosystem for large model commercialization in China.
