The voice interaction experience of artificial intelligence is about to undergo a major update. According to the latest news from tech media Android Authority, Anthropic is preparing a significant upgrade for its AI assistant Claude, focusing on breaking down language barriers.

According to information captured by some users in the settings interface, this update will not only break the "English only" status quo but also add multiple language options at once. These include Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Ukrainian. For non-English speakers, this means they will be able to communicate more smoothly with Claude in their native language in the future.

In addition to expanding language support, the operation logic of voice interaction has also been finely adjusted. Currently, Claude offers two interaction modes: one is the classic "hands-free" mode, designed to support smooth continuous conversation; the other is a newly added "press-to-talk" mode, where users need to press and hold a button for voice input, and release it to send. This design not only enhances the user's control over the interaction but also better adapts to different usage scenarios.

More notably, the iOS version of Claude app has quietly introduced a new icon resembling a telephone earpiece. Although Anthropic has not yet provided an official explanation for this change, the industry generally speculates that it may indicate the company is developing a more natural, traditional phone call-like interactive experience, making AI conversations as natural as human-to-human communication.

Although these changes are still in the planning stage, Claude's accelerated efforts in voice interaction undoubtedly enhance the usability of AI tools. For users who hope that AI assistants can not only "understand" but also "chat", this update is worth keeping an eye on.
